What documents do you need at the border?

For visa-free visitors, Moroccan border control typically requires:

Valid passport

Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned travel dates. Some airports strictly enforce this; others do not — do not risk it.

Return or onward ticket

Proof that you are leaving Morocco within 90 days. A flight booking confirmation is sufficient; it does not need to be fully paid.

Accommodation address

Your hotel booking, riad reservation, or a host's address in Morocco. Border officers may ask; having it on your phone is fine.

Proof of funds

Bank card or cash. No fixed minimum is published, but €50/day is a commonly cited guideline. Officers rarely ask, but carry a bank card to be safe.

Completed entry form

A paper form distributed on the plane or available at the border. Fill it in with your Moroccan address (hotel name and city is sufficient) and the purpose of your visit.

Important: Morocco does not offer visa on arrival for nationals of countries that require a visa. If you need a visa, you must obtain it from the Moroccan embassy or consulate in your home country before you travel. Showing up at the airport without the correct visa will result in denied boarding or deportation.

How long can you stay?

Visa-free visitors may stay for up to 90 days per visit. There is no limit on the number of visits per year, but consecutive short stays that suggest de-facto residency may attract scrutiny at the border.

If you wish to stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for a carte de séjour (residence permit) at the local police station before your 90 days expire. Overstaying is a serious matter in Morocco — you can be fined, detained, and barred from re-entry.

Digital nomads and long-stay visitors: Morocco does not yet have a dedicated digital nomad visa (as of 2026). The most practical option for stays over 90 days is to leave briefly (typically to Spain or the Canary Islands) and re-enter — though re-entry after an immediate exit is at border officer discretion and not guaranteed.

Health requirements for Morocco (2026)

Vaccinations

No vaccinations are required for entry into Morocco as of 2026. The WHO recommends being up to date on routine vaccinations (MMR, tetanus, hepatitis A and B). Hepatitis A is recommended for all travelers; typhoid if eating outside tourist restaurants.

Yellow fever certificate

Required only if arriving from a country with yellow fever risk. Not required for travelers arriving from North America, Europe, or Australia.

COVID-19 requirements

No COVID-19 test, vaccination certificate, or health form required for entry as of 2026.

Travel health insurance

Not required for entry but strongly recommended. Medical care in major cities is good; rural and desert areas have limited facilities. Emergency evacuation insurance is worth considering for desert or hiking trips.
